Baby mentions using
epiphany-browser as the default Gnome browser.
I did this a few weeks ago (when I had problems with Galeon). The most important thing to do with epiphany is:
$ sudo apt-get install epiphany-extensions
That gives epiphany a whole new lease of life. Galeon bookmarks can be imported and there are wonderful things called Smart Bookmarks. Like Galeon, these can be put on the toolbar
with input boxes so that an entry in the input is substituted into the URL of the bookmark. Firefox/iceweasel has these for searching but epiphany allows a much more useful customisation. I use them to create several very useful smart bookmarks:
- Debian BTS#
- Google search
- PTS
- buildd
That makes it easy to look up particular packages and buildd status - just enter the package name or bug number in an input box on the toolbar! Lovely. You can add as many as you can fit into your window.
Well worth installing - and customising. Thanks epiphany.
